I became familiar with the “Securitee Blanket” a couple years ago when my beloved cat Socks developed Diabetes. I cannot tell you how many times I dropped the vial of insulin on the slate floor, on the way to give Socks his shot, and would have broken it had it not been for the Securitee Blanket. I have been using the Securitee Blankets for several months and I do not know how I ever got along without them! When I first began using them I used a blue vial cover for my Lantus and a pink cover for my Humalog. I rarely, if ever, have dropped my vials, but reaching for the different colors and the pleasant feeling grip is a TREMENDOUS help to me, especially when I am tired. If I am extremely high or low, the grip (and color) of the Securitee Blanket truly does make it easier to grab when I need to start any necessary adjustments. When I have accidentally dropped my vials on occasion, they simple bounced and rolled as I reached down to pick them up. There was no damage at all! I have used the Securitee Blanket for over 2 years now and in that time I have not broken an insulin vial. Prior to obtaining the Securitee Blanket I did have the misfortune of dropping and breaking a vial in a bathroom with ceramic tile. It has saved me from breaking a vial on at least 3 other occasions since I started using it. While I do not have neuropathy problems in my hands, I was diagnosed and have been surgically treated for severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Prior to my surgery I often had trouble gripping the vial and found that the neoprene used to manufacture the Securitee Blanket provided a bigger and better gripping surface. The hot pink color of the neoprene makes the vial easy to spot in low light conditions or when the vial rolls under the bed after dropping it. This is definitely a product that people need to use to fully understand its benefits and range of uses. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for creating and providing this product. I’m not concerned about dropping a vial or knocking it off the table. I don’t have to worry any more about trying to hold the vial because my arthritis …it’s just so easy and comfortable to hold.
